2008 Summer Camp: Daily Itineraries

    
8:30-9:00am

9:00 Camp Begins
   Check-in, warm up and get ready for fun!

Orientation (20 minutes)
 • Introduce staff
• General location of amenities
• Check-in & out procedures
• Must be with staff member when going to the restroom
• Where to meet each day
• Procedure of getting and returning rental clubs
• What supplies/clubs to have ready
• General safety; to be defined in detail within smaller groups
• Form groups; group with friends

Introduction to Putting (40 minutes)
• Introduction to putting stroke/swing motion
• Distance and direction drills
• Etiquette: marking ball, where to stand when others are putting,
walking across line/shadows, tending flagstick
• A few fun games and drills to improve technique
Morning Break ( 15 minutes)
  Introduction to Chipping (40 min)
• What is chipping? Definition of a chip shot
• Set up for success! Learn correct posture and ball position
• Introduction to chipping stroke/swing motion
• A few fun games and drills to improve technique
  Introduction to Practice Range (40 min)
• Safety precautions
• Warmup, learn the importance of stretching
• Basic terminology
• Learn parts of the club
• Difference between woods & irons
• Learn the 3 types of grips
• Aim/set-up/posture
• Correct setup to hit short irons, mid-irons and woods
• Swing from 9 o'clock to 3 o'clock position
• Swing to finish position. Emphasis on balance
• Hit balls off a tee. Get it airborne!
12:00-12:30pm  

Lunch / Raffle
12:30   Half Day camp ends
12:45-3:00pm   Beginners: Playing simulation; short game area. Advanced: Play the course
3:00pm   Camp ends/Pick-up
 

Advanced Lessons

  Advanced Driving Range Practice (40 min)
• Understanding the science of the golf swing
• Learning the five ball flight laws
• Learn the 9 ball flight concepts; draw, fade etc.
• Learning proper technique to hit the driver
• Video swing analysis
  Advanced Short Game Lessons (30 min
• Learn chip & run shot, flop shot
• Impacting spin on the ball
• Playing shots from uneven lies and the rough
  Bunker Shots (30 min)
• Understanding basic concept of how to hit a sand shot
• Learn correct stance and swing technique
• Learn to play trouble shots
• Develop confidence to play bunker shots from various lies
  Golf Course Playing Lessons
• Learn course management and playing strategy
• Understanding rules and etiquette
• Play tournament
