Q. What makes Mariners Point Golf Camp unique?
A. Our program is unique in that we offer lessons for children as young as 5 years old. Each child learns in a safe and active environment that cultivates confidence and self-esteem. Many former students are playing competitively on the middle school and high school level. And many are nationally ranked junior golfers. Mariners Point is also unique in the amenities that are offered. Our 9-hole, par-3 golf course is well suited for children and our fenced-in short game practice area is ideal for teaching juniors valuable lessons in chipping, pitching, putting and sand shots.
Q. Does my child need to be a good golfer?
A. The only prerequisite is that your child shows interest in attending camp. Our friendly and enthusiastic coaches will help them improve their skill and make them feel more confident in their abilities.
Q. Can a 4-year-old participate?
A. Yes. Our Tiger Cubs camp is specifically designed for children 4-5 years old. Tiger Cubs meet three times a week Monday-Wednesday from 9:00-11:30pm.
Q. What should my child bring to camp?
A. Besides a well-rested body and good spirits each child is required to have a set of golf clubs. (Click here for equipment link) Rentals are available for $25 per week and must be reserved in advance. Wearing a cap/visor and long sleeve t-shirt is a good idea for sensitive skin. In addition to bringing a lunch make sure that your child has adequate snacks.
Q. What does Mariners Point provide?
A. Friendly, enthusiastic instructors and coaches selected for their ability to interact with children. We also provide plenty of water, simple snacks, and canopies for shade, sunscreen and band-aids for blisters. A complementary pizza lunch is provided on Friday. We may provide lunches Monday-Thursday for a nominal fee. Please check our website in May for details.
Q. What is your instructor to student ratio?
A. To ensure quality instruction and more importantly for the safety of each student, our ratio is one instructor or coach for every 8 students.
Q. What safety system do you have?
A. Mariners Point competent staff will teach children how to practice and have fun safely. Safety guidelines are discussed with students on the first day of camp and are reviewed daily. Each day lessons are conducted with an emphasis on SAFETY FIRST. We have each child’s emergency contact information and medical history on site at all times. MPGC considers safety the greatest priority.
